25 January 1944

Mission: Ramrod   (short range bomber attacks to destroy ground targets)

Crash: Near Eupen

Major John J Fisher   O-427486

Witness:

I was flying position 3 in TROOp TRAIN blue Flight returning from Ramrod mission over enemy territory. Troop Train yellow reported “boogies” to the rear. I saw Yellow 2, Major Fisher, rack his plane into a tight, steep bank to port. He spun left for two turns, recovered, climbed, spun to right. Three time, he almost succeeded in bringing his ship under c377_fs1ontrol. Lost sight him as he was   overcast ( about 4000 ft.) still spinning.
