Crash: Somme-Leuze
2Lt Jeryl D Crowell Pilot O-782704
Lt Crowell and I were climbing out on an operational flight when he notified me on an unidentified aircraft at 8 o’clock. I looked, but was unable to see anything probably due to the fact that at the time. Lt Crowell was approximately 3-4 miles behind me. About 5 minutes later, he called me, but I could not read the message, so I asked him to say the message again. I received no answer. I looked around for him, but before I could locate him, he called again that “they” had got him. I turned immediately and was able to see a large puff of black smoke, several small ones, and 5-6 miles away a flight of 4 planes. Before I could locate anything, such as a falling plane or a parachute, I saw an FW-190 on my tail. I shook the FW-190 and called twice more with no results.
